Out of the Blue ~ Pullout

New Fabric ~ "Out of the Blue"!

One of my favorite paintings that I have ever created.
The original painting depicts a male and female Golden Eye Ducks swimming together for the evening through their pond.
The children were left on the banks of the pond as they have an evening out.
The water is so crystal blue and the reeds and grass reflect in the water.
The babies sit on shore wondering where their parents are going.
However, the older sister is telling them to behave because she is in charge.
The fabric is a mirrored design and you can design it anyway you want.
From a full image to the swatches, fat quarters and by the yard.
The fabric provides endless possibilities for you to create.
I hope all of you are enjoying the "Jennifer Lake Fabric Store"...all ON LINE!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Hummingbird Fabrics Arrive!!

I just love hummingbirds and have painted many over the years.
The color and their size is just so sweet to place in my nature paintings.
The hummingbird couple above was taken from an original painting that was just
 two inches by two inches.
It is a challenge to create such detail in such a small space...however the fabric it created below is amazing! The red is only from the male hummingbirds throat but look how it became the overall color with the lilac background.

Hummingbird Couple

The Hummingbird below is a "Pullout" from the original painting I created called "Todd Lake".
I mirrored the pullout to create the " Fat Quarter" of fabric. You can order the fabric in the following ways: Swatch, Fat Quarter, Yard or Seam. The "Todd Lake" entire piece and all the other "Pullouts" can be seen in the "Jennifer Lake Fabric Store" located in the upper right of the BLOG.

"Hummingbird Pullout" from Todd Lake

The Hummingbird image below is of a "Pullout" from the original painting called "Against All Odds".
The image is of a Calliope male hummingbird taking nectar from a wild Lark Spur Flower.
I would use this piece with fabric color of the flowers to really make it all pop.
I am going to order this fabric to make some summer napkins for my picnic basket.

Calliope Male Hummingbird

Below is the female Calliope Hummingbird.  The image is also a "Pullout" from the same original painting called "Against All Odds".
The fabric below it shows the yardage view.  The grass detail just provides an amazing design and detail.

Fabrics will keep posting all week in the NEW FABRIC STORE.  I hope you will enjoy viewing them all!
Those of you who have already purchased fabric please send me photos of what you create!!
I cannot wait to see them!!

Friends Come to Tea ~ King Quail

New Fabric has Arrived ~ King Quail Fabric!

King Quail has arrived on fabric! I have always loved painting quail.
They are some of the most laughable birds there are. Quail are like watching a cartoon live as they run, scatter, and play with each other.
The many colors they have and the detail of all their feathers just is a delight for me to paint.
I have captured them in many paintings over the years and "King Quail" seems to be in every painting.
King Quail fabric by the yard.

The image above depicts "King Quail"  on a white background.  The image was taken from a hand painted tile I produced and the terracotta color was removed from the background.
However you can order the fabric with the colored background as seen below in the fat quarter and many other ways.

King Quail Tile

I really enjoy making the mirrored images for the fabrics.  I am surprised on how the designs end up and the color mix. There are so many possibilities with the fabric.

Below is the yard fabric for the painting called "Friends Come to Tea".  You can see details of the fabric and all of the above by visiting my NEW fabric store on the BLOG.
The store is located in the upper right hand corner.
Over 70 fabrics await  your review and more being added weekly.  Give me feedback and for those of you that purchased already send me photos of what you have created cannot wait to see them all.
Would love to share with everyone.

Against All Odds ~ Hummingbird

Featured Fabric of the Day!

The painting called "Against All Odds" I completed in 2006.  The image depicts an old burned out stump in a forest.  Even though it looks like it is dead...it still holds on. Mountain Bluebirds move into its hole and raise their young.  Forest animals come by and greet each other.  A hummingbird comes by to gather nectar from the flowers that grow by.  Just like our lives...life continues.
The image below is of the original painting which measured 6 feet by 9 feet.
The painting is privately owned by a corporation in Virginia.
You can purchase prints however through this BLOG in the Jennifer Lake Fine Art America Store.

The image below is the "Fat Quarter" fabric of the hummingbird pullout  from "Against All Odds".
The Hummingbird is located on the lower left of the original painting.
The image below is the "Yard" image.
Check out more "Pullout" images from the original painting.  All located in my NEW FABRIC STORE!

Just Click on the "Jennifer Lake Fabric Store"
 located on this Blog.
The store is located in the upper right on this page.

Fabric Store

Jennifer Lakes "Fabric Store" is OPEN!

I am so pleased to announce that my FABRIC STORE is finally OPEN!
The store opens with over 50 fabrics to select from and more will be added weekly!
The designs are unique and YOU can customize them to your own needs!
I just love the idea that you have the ability to take the designs and redesign them.
The custom fabric is available in the following types:
Combed Cotton 56" width
Pima Cotton 54" width
Cotton Twill 58" width
Polyester Poplin 60" width
Polyester Weave 58" width
Ivory Linen 54" width
Natural Linen 54" width
The designs can be adjusted so that if you just want one pane you may
or
select six different variations of the design.
The image below is of a painting I completed of a Lazuli Bunting.  I mirrored the image to receive the results.  To me it resembles "Jacque Art" from England or even a feel of "William Morris"
You can customize the fabric by clicking the large blue customize button below each fabric.
Several squares are shown below the image that will show you the detail, swatch, fat quarter, yard and seam.
From here you can click on each button and enlarge, rotate or twist them the way you would like by using the buttons on the right hand side of the page.
Above the image in the upper left hand corner you can also enlarge the image.
The image above shows the swatch of a "Pullout" of a Red Wing Blackbird.  The pullout image was taken from the original painting called "Todd Lake".  I am going to use the swatch for outdoor pillows this summer. Below is the entire "Pullout" in yard form!  I think some outdoor tablecloths will also be made.
Another fabric from the original painting of "Todd Lake" is the Blue Herons.  The wild design it created by using the "Mirrored Image" button is truly amazing. The grass detail weaving together and overlapping creates amazing depth and unique detail.
Here are just a few more of 50 images you will find in the NEW STORE.  You can visit the store by CLICKING on the STORE LINK in the UPPER RIGHT hand CORNER of this BLOG!
I would love to hear your comments and look forward to this NEW adventure with all of you.
By the end of next week there will be over 100 NEW fabrics just for YOU!
Enjoy!
Have a Wonderful Evening!

Ski Cabin in Guest Bedroom

Mural Part Two ~ Ski Cabin

I was commissioned several years ago to take a guest bedroom and turn it into a ski cabin.  The room measured 22 X 24.  Two windows were at the end of the room and the ceiling design just fit to create the look of a weathered old ski cabin.
I used a selection of antiques grays, browns and whites to capture the feel of an old antique shack.
The family wanted all of their pets included.  The mural encompasses the entire room. So all the animals were placed here and there.  The sign below captures the clients welcome in German.

One of the family dogs sits on the front porch waiting for the family.  A Pygmy Owl roosts above the door and Mountain Bluebirds nest above the right window.

The basket below sits on top of an old wooden sleigh and is filled with Purple Columbine.
A Chickadee sits in between all of the flowers and watches a bee flit nearby.

A basket filled with Columbine.

A baby rabbit has hopped onto the sleigh.  The detail here can take a quite a bit of time.
However, I think that is what makes Murals so wonderful...the element of surprise.

Two chipmunks play at the front door.

A frog comes out behind a rock to see what is going on.

Baby Quail hop along the rock wall ..trying to catch up with Dad.

The family cat sits next to the shack!

A mouse also comse out to see what is going on.

The family wanted my "rocky" included.

Ms. Bunny sits on top of the rock wall.

Hello!

I love painting murals and working with clients that enjoy the freedom of expression.  Murals add so much to a room or a home...even if they are just small vignettes to large.  I love creating the theme and design.  The  implementation can take one week ...to almost four months for the one above.
If you are interested in further information and a class on how to create murals e-mail me through this site.
