~Mrs. Kingfisher~
Fishing along the Creek is Excellent!
Well...I am going to believe Mrs. Kingfisher!
She has been very busy!
The Dippers, Kingfishers and Geese have now returned.
The sounds of the creek rushing, the birds chirping adds such a delight!
I decided to create a painting of Mrs. Kingfisher...
sitting on one of the many branches along the creek.
The wild rushing water provided such a great idea for the background!
I found this wonderful wood canvas with great water lines.
I enhanced them with a wide variety of colors.
The next step was layout and design.
Location of Mrs. Kingfisher was very important against the water grain.
Little tiny details are so important for my type of artwork...
as they say
"Its all in the Details"!
Look closely below and you will see where a fish had just jumped...
Splash!
Splash!
Cattails and Red Twig Dogwood in full bloom are filled with many colors of green.
Mrs. Kingfisher sits waiting patiently for a fish.
However you can see she is looking the wrong way.
The fish are pooling below her!
Poor Mom!
Female Belted Kingfishers have an extra rust- colored "belt" that the males don't have.
Generally in most bird species the males are the most colorful.
But in this species it is reversed.
Belted Kingfishers are highly territorial, and males sometimes remain year round.
I have been an avid birder all my life so I enjoy the research about each species.
The "Original Painting" measures 16 X 20 and the
introductory price is $2500.00.
