Painting of the Day!
~Friends Come to Tea~
Oh MY!
In 2003 & 2004 I created an entire NEW Series called
"Chapter Two".
I wanted to step away from painting Americana for a while.
I set up a new plan to design paintings that would challenge me.
The one below titled: "Friends Come to Tea" did just that!
The painting took over six months to produce!
A total of four quilt paintings were created.
The painting depicts a quilt that my Grandmother Lillian created.
I loved the patterns in the vintage fabrics and collected items that I owned to coordinate.
Of course the piece had to relate to Oregon somehow.
The upper right chocolate pot ...I have owned for years and use it now more for tea.
The plate below is from the
"100th Celebration" of the Lewis & Clark Exposition!
A little hummingbird is in flight over an Orchid Heisey glass sugar bowl and creamer.
The plate on the right took days to paint!
The plate was created by Meijer & Frank Department Stores
for the
100th Birthday Celebration of Oregon in 1959!
The year I was born!
I have collected these for years.
You can still find them in antique shops. The plates were produced in several colors.
The Mountain Bluebird sits on top of a Pink Lustre pitcher.
For years my parents collected Copper Lustre and taught me as a little girl what to look for.
We spent endless hours... hunting in the east coast antique shops for just the perfect ones.
When I moved west it was very rare to find the pieces.
However, my collection has slowly grown and I treasure each.
My logo throughout "Celebrating Oregon" and "Celebrating Washington"
was a character sketch of me painting the painting.
I had to create something new for this series...
I decided to hide as a mouse!
You can see me sitting with my paint brush inside the tea cup .
The floral tea pot is one I use all the time for tea.
I created the painting when I was living in Sisters, Oregon.
The property was beautiful and my art studio looked over a gorgeous forest.
Animals were everywhere.
"Rocky" the raccoon character started here (you can see "Rocky" in the "Ms. Elizabeth" series)
and the never ending quail paintings!
I guess you can say this painting provided a pivotal change in my art career.
Each one of my paintings tells a story.
My parents have been after me for years to write them down.
I guess I better start soon!
The painting sold 550 Limited Editions, 25 Canvas Giclees and countless open editions.
You can now purchase many products and prints in my
Jennifer Lake Fine Art America Store:
The painting is beautifully framed and measures 30" x 40".
The painting is now for sale and I hope it will find a "Happy Home" like all the others last week!
The story is a part of my love for Oregon and the amazing life it has provided.

Part ONE...
Lillian's Lilacs 4' X 4'
Good Morning Everyone!
Ahhh! Another week unfolds before us!
Every week of our lives we are bombarded with decisions, resolutions, new adventures, and life!
Some of the decisions are filled with obstacles, joys, and reflections.
Even my career as an Artist... you face the same things.
For the past three years I have had the great opportunity to live in the north eastern Oregon mountains.
I had lived in Central Oregon since 1980 and made the MASSIVE decision to create a
"NEW Adventure" for myself!
I have NO regret. I have fallen in love with this area.
A dear friend of mine over the weekend asked me why?
"There are no Costco's, Walmart's, Restaurants are Limited"....
etc.they said.
All of which I simply don't miss!
Anyway...I have decided to STAY!
I fell in love with the beauty of the land, the vast history,
the wildlife, wildflowers, the snow, and the peace.
On my 38th year in the art industry...
I have found the location to build my next Art Studio!
So... I like many of YOU had to make a BIG decision over the weekend.
ALL of my ORIGINAL PAINTINGS that I currently own are for Sale!
The proceeds will go toward this wonderful new place and Art Studio that I will share!
Below are images and sizes of the paintings.
Some have NEVER been available for sale before.
The group below is Part One...
