Wow! Nature's Pumpkins!
A few weeks ago I went hiking with a friend
that wanted to share with me what he found!
Instantly it reminded me of fall!
What an amazing color of fungus!
The fungus is called Laetiporus Sulphureus!
Say that three times!
Commonly known as Sulpher shelf or chicken-of-the woods.
The species of fungus bracket fungus is found in
Europe and North America.
It is a saproophyte and is a weak parasite that creates a brown cubical rot in the heartwood
of the trees on which it grows!
I found the variety of orange colors amazing and
the way they were strategically stacked together.
Supposedly these fungi are edible during its young stage.
Because of the taste, the mushroom has been called chicken polypore or chicken-of-woods.
Some people think it tastes like crab or lobster.
I am not going to eat it!
Rumor has it some people have gastrointestinal upset afterwards.
I am just going to enjoy the amazing sculpture and all its "Fall Orange"!
How about YOU?
Have a Wonderful Evening Everyone!
