A Photographers Paradise!

What a Winter!
Last year in the Blue Mountains of  Eastern Oregon over
154" of snow fell.
Flash forward to 2018 .....hardly one foot!
What a difference! I am sure however more will come.
It truly feels like spring along the creeks and rivers.
Small plants are starting to pop up and some trees have even budded.
The red and yellow twig dogwood along the creeks have turned a vibrant red and yellow.

However the lack of winter has provided photographers and artists a paradise!
Winter access to virtually everywhere!
The Elk Horn Mountains stand majestically against the vibrant blue sky.
The eagles, hawks, ducks, and herons hunt for food on the
 meadows & landscape below.
The results of the dredging from years ago create a birders landscape!

The snow is a palette of blues, lavenders, grays and greens.
The snow provides your imagination to wander.
You find yourself spending time on your knees & back trying to get the best photo.
Capturing the colors for a new painting.
The photo below was taken in the moonlight.
Note the shadows, shapes, crystals and designs in the snow.

I love walking in the moonlight.
My parents introduced me to "Moonlight Hiking" when I was a child.
I took my son many times growing up and lots of friends over the years.
I find the quiet, shadows & colors "Magical"!
The crystals of snow look just like diamonds.
Years ago a friend was hiking with me and complaining he was so poor.
I said to him...
"If you can see the diamonds in the snow and find JOY in them....
You are VERY RICH!"
He cried.
So much of his life he did not learn to see!
He later told me he now has taught all his children to see....
"MAGIC"!

The ice along the Powder River creates abstract shapes,
 shadows and designs.
Captured in both color and black & white the photos below show the linear lines.
Underneath the ice is a world all onto its own.
Maybe the Ice Fairies live here.
All the caves entries...
you can just imagine what their boats must look like.

I was stunned over the colors found within the ice.
Every spectrum...just like a rainbow!
The crystals create such glitter and texture.

The next time you are near a river...get on your hands and knees and back and look at the world below!
Most of all start Exploring our Magical World!
Have a Wonderful Evening Everyone!
Your Artist Friend along the Creek!
