40 Years of Painting Christmas 1 of 2

Forty Years of Painting Christmas!

Christmas...the most Beautiful Season of the Year!
Christmas time has always been simply "Magic" to me!
The heavy snows, the smells in the kitchen, crafting, puzzles, decorating, snow forts,
snow camping, outdoor fires, moonlit walks, and friends and family.
My art career has also provided me over the years a place to share my love for the
"Magical" Christmas Holiday!
I have created many Christmas & Holiday Paintings.
In 2019 I will be "Celebrating 40 Years" of my Art Career!
I want everyone to SHARE in the CELEBRATION!
Below I have selected a few of my FAVORITE Holiday Pieces.
Each one is truly unique and filled with detail
&
My Love of the Christmas Season!

The first is called: "Whose Woods these are I think I know"!
A winter hike in the forest you discover it is filled with life!
Animals scurry looking for food and shelter from the next storm.
The birds play in the bushes trees as a large snowy owl creates
a snow avalanche from one of the large ponderosa pines.
A coyote stops and listens for the mouse he has been tracking.
If you look closely you can see more than 32 animals hidden
within the painting.
The original painting is currently available.

A Snowmobile Holiday!
The painting was created in 2000 and depicts the
"Antique Snowmobile Club"!
The log Cabin is adorned with holly and swags of pine.
A bonfire in front of the cabin provides the ice skaters warmth.
The original painting was created for a cover of a Gift catalog.

Timberline Lodge
The most successful Christmas Painting of all
I created in 1994.
The painting has sold over 50,000 + copies.
The historic Timberline Lodge is one of the most
"Celebrated Public Art Work Projects" in the United States.
The lodge was constructed during the Great Depression as a WPA Project.
Craftsman were enlisted to create paintings, carvings, stonework, iron, and textiles.
It is now one of the most famous lodges of the west.
The scene depicts majestic Mt. Hood in the background as skiers
enjoy an Americana Holiday at Timberline!
Can you find me painting the painting?
The original painting was sold to a private collector.

"Our First Christmas in Oregon"
The painting depicts my living room of the first home I lived in
 (and renovated) in Oregon.
The main living room is already for the holidays.
On the mantel sits a historic miniature village of homes on the
National Historic Trust in Oregon.
The painting was painted in the early 90's.

"I Wish We Were Invited"
In 1996 I decided to make a change in my art career.
I just love wildlife, humor, and nature.
So, I created the painting below.
The bunnies are so disappointed that they were not invited!
The chipmunks are delighting in Christmas Cheer!
The painting went to the Los Angeles Gift Show...
I waited for the reaction from my sales reps...and the public's reaction was wonderful!
750+ prints sold at that show!
Soon afterwards my chipmunk character "Ms. Elizabeth" was created!
So you can say...the painting below changed my career!
The original painting was sold to a private collector.

Christmas Preview!

Christmas 2018 Preview!

The Art Gallery currently resembles more of  Santa's Workshop
than an
 Art Gallery!
The theme this year is "Mountain Holly & Berries"!

Oregon grows some of the most beautiful holly in the world.
Holly Farms are located within the Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast
and along the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains.
One of my favorites:
Fernhill Holly Farms:
The farm began in the early 50's by Tim Timmerman and his wife Norene.
The first year they shipped 250 pounds of holly.
Now the farm is recognized on the world stage as one of the BEST!
Now, a third generation is becoming more and more involved.
What another successful Oregon Business!
Keeping with the theme...
I have produced several paintings of "Birds in Holly".
The first is "King Quail".
He is keeping an eye out for the owners of the Holly Farm
while he eats berries in a snowstorm.
The second is "Oregon Junco Joe".
He is also enjoying the berries in the Christmas snowstorm.
Both original paintings are currently available and measure
6" X 8".
The current price is $250.00 each and are signed and dated.
A lovely gift for that "Special Someone".

Both of these images have been produced in many products...
from fabric to dishware and prints.
I absolutely love the "Snowflake Ornaments".
I like how the "Oregon Junco" and the "King Quail"
are looking at each other.
Check out ALL the Ornaments and many other products located here:
Jennifer Lakes Bird Store

The "Holiday Season" is rapidly approaching!
I hope you enjoyed this little preview...
More being released next week...
Back to the WORKSHOP!
Have a Wonderful Evening!

The Art Gallery has a NEW Mascot!

Jennifer Lake Art Gallery
has a
 NEW MASCOT!

How many of you remember "Woody" the Art Galleries Mascot?
Woody would be found getting into trouble everywhere!
He would paint paintings in the middle of the night...rearrange art and quite
frankly cause "FUN" havoc!

A wonderful lady, friend and client Phyllis Piper created our
 NEW MASCOT!
I am PROUD to introduce....
ANNE!
Our NEW Mascot was created in La Grande, Oregon!

"Anne" will watch over my Art Gallery and bring us GOOD LUCK!
So far she is creating Smiles on Everyone's Faces
when they walk through the door!
Such a wonderful addition!
We look forward to sharing her with you!
Some of you asked ..."What happened to "Woody"?
I don't know...I haven't seen him since Sisters.
He was not found in any of the boxes...
so I am guessing he is riding a horse somewhere in Sisters.
If he does reappear again...I am sure Anne & Woody will become
BEST FRIENDS!

Don't you think she is Wonderful?
Keep the "Child" alive in YOUR HEART Forever!
Have a Wonderful Evening!
Your Artist Friend,
Jennifer Lake

The Fall Porch!

The BEST Season for Decorating!

Summer has faded and now Fall is in full COLOR!
I am in shock how fast 2018 has slipped by!
However the next few months for me... are so fun!
I have always enjoyed decorating for the holidays!

The "Art Gallery Porch" is now decorated for fall.
We have many days here that you can enjoy sitting outside in the early evening.
Temperatures in the fall fluctuate from a low of 20 degrees to a high of 70++!
So... you take advantage of the Fall Afternoons.

When I decorate now I try and use what is available around the area.
I adore Pine Cones! I use them everywhere!
A pine cone is such a beautiful sculpture of nature.
I fill baskets with them, use them in floral pots, and mix them into display.
Yes...I also collect Heart Shaped Rocks!
A Romantic through and through!
All my art galleries and homes have always had a
 hand painted heart on them!

The floral pots left over from the summer flowers
were refilled with dried flowers and plants from the local area.
I picked dried cattails, grasses, and dried flower pods.
So many colors outside right now.
Make sure you shake the seeds out of the pods so they return.
All the dried plants were placed right in the same dirt the flowers were in.
Just soak the pot first ...then add the dry bunches.
They will stay put!
I added pine cones to the sections that had a gap!
A few fake leaves...Flash ..."Fall Decor"!
I added raffia ribbon from the dollar store!
Total cost...$5.00!

The summer pillows were left on the wicker chairs.
They just needed a little ribbon and colored leaves!

Cattails were filled in OLD Pots with ...YES...Pine Cones!

Have FUN decorating...Look around your backyard!
Lots of possibilities!

Have a Wonderful Evening & Fall Season!
Your Artist Friend,
Jennifer Lake
Happy Decorating!

Painting the Stories of Your Life...

Home Portrait Season!

The Summer is half way over already!
I have been so busy in the past few months with the new art gallery...
I was really paying no attention to the time!
I have sadly only three openings left for this year for home portraits.
Most clients request "Home Portraits" for Christmas Gifts.

When you order a "Home Portrait" you make a list of
 the details of  your life!
Many people include many experiences, family members, special events, dogs, cats, horses, goats, etc.
The more detail the better!
"Home Portraits" capture a families story forever!
You can also order canvas prints for each member.
I have painted everything from outdoor weddings, ranches, farms, homesteads, and architecture.

Basically said..."I paint stories of Your Life".
I capture detail upon detail.

Home Portraits come in every shape and size...
from 16 X 20 ~ 4' x 6'.
Prices vary on the architecture and detail.
Each is individually priced.
So if you are looking for that "Very Special" gift this year...

The Oregon Love Story! Celebrating the NEW Art Gallery ALL July!

The Art Gallery Celebration Continues!
The Oregon Love Story!
I created a series of four paintings in 2006 that combined created the
Oregon Love Story!
The love story begins with the Oregon Trail painting.
Below is a brief description of chapter one and two in the book.
The couple meet on the Oregon Trail and fall in love.
The wagon train held a western dance at the end of the trail.
They both danced all night.
The painting below is called "After the Rodeo Dance"!
Their Cowboy Boots look exhasuted after dancing the night away!
The tickets from the rodeo dance lay on the floor.
Her pearls she had worn that night now lay on her boot.
A mouse under the bed is peering out wondering what all the commotion is about.
The lace is the same in every painting.

The two end up settling into their new lives, build a ranch, have children.
One year the Cattle & Sheep Wars began in Oregon.
He had to leave to protect his herd.
She writes him a love letter before he leaves and places it on his saddle.
She also leaves her lace hankie for him to remember her.

He left to protect his cattle herd. She stayed behind and took care of the ranch.
So much sad news from the Cattle and Sheep Land Wars.
One day she receives a letter...hand written by her husband to her.
It says..."Look for me Soon" .....
The painting "Coming Home" depicts her standing on the high plateau looking down the canyon.
She is holding the letter and wearing her lace apron.
All of a sudden....She sees the Love her Life..."Coming Home"!
with what is left of the herd!

Why Lace...the lace is a symbol of how our lives are woven into stories.
Our lives are fascinating...each thread of life weaves a beauty that is
just ours!
You can own all four prints. The first Chapter of the "Oregon Love Story".
All four/signed. $150.00 + shipping.
11 X 14 image size.

Gallery Decor...You feel like your Home!

“Celebrating Oregon”

The “Celebrating Oregon” series can be found in the NEW Art Gallery ...

New pieces continue to be added.
The series was started in 1984 and became the most collected series in my entire art career.
I like the look of these three historic pieces against my handpainted log and stone mural!
The rack below I found and will be using it for
all the tote bags of the series.
Many gift products will also be available in the gallery this fall.
Several hundred paintings were included in the
“Celebrating Oregon” and “Celebrating Washington” series.
Both collections combined have sold over two million prints!
From 1984 ~ 2018
What a shock over the years!
The collections also traveled throughout Japan in the early nineties.
However...I am most proud that these two series have created over
 1.5 million dollars
for a variety of Northwest Charieties.
Here are just a few:
Dorenbecher Childrens’s Hospital
Boys and Girls Clubs of America
National 4-H Foundation
Deschutes County 4-H Foundation
Children’s Farm Home
Oregon Historical Society of Oregon
Washington State Parks
Salem Oregon Tourism Divison
Ronald McDonald Homes
Pittock Mansion Portland
City of Tacoma Tourism Division & Historical Society
Oregon Coast Aquarium
Etc....Etc...Etc...
I will be Amazed Always and very Grateful for
All My Collectors & Fans!
Stop by and Visit!
The coffee is ON!
Have a Wonderful Evening!

Jennifer Lake
