The Wild Wild West ~ "Customers Favorite Things"

"The Wild Wild West!"
Well, a "Santa" in Laramie, Wyoming just ordered the entire collection for the LOVE of his life!
I cannot share the story publicly but I can assure you the gentlemen I helped design the collection for
truly Loves and Adores his Wife!
It even got me all choked up!
I started the "Oregon Love Story" in 2006.
It tells the story of a "Cowboy" and a "Lady" who meet on the
Oregon Trail and fall in love.
They fall in love at the Rodeo Dance.
The two of them proceed to build up their own ranch by themselves and soon had children.
I am currently working on the next chapter.
The story is located in the Jennifer Lake Fine Art America Store.
The gallery is called the "Wild Wild West".
The three paintings below are as follows:
"Coming Home", "After the Rodeo Dance" and "Saddle-Up"

A few of my "Customers Favorite Things"

"They Said it Wouldn't Snow"
The following two pieces were sold to a client in Montana.
I painted "They said it Wouldn't Snow" several years ago.
The painting tells a story about the little deer "Rudy".
His mother invited all his animal friends to come and "Celebrate" his birthday.
She planned the party on the day "They said it Wouldn't Snow".
 Sadly it snowed.
Now the birthday cake is missing and everyone is blaming each other for eating it!
Where did the cake go?
The scene was painted from my forest behind my old house in
 Sisters, Oregon.
"The Antique Snowmobile Club"
The painting was originally created as a cover for an outdoor catalog.
The painting depicts the "Central Oregon Snowmobile Club" meeting at a local
 mountain snow covered cabin.
The Cascade Mountains tower over the cabin under the full moon.
Everyone is "Celebrating" the season by ice skating, skiing, roasting marshmallows etc.
A fun piece to leave up all winter long.
"The Wall of Lavender Ice"
The next two pieces were ordered by a client in Colorado Springs, Co.
I really love the contemporary feel to the framing.
The mat color just pops the ice! I took this photo last year and turned it into mixed media.
The bubbles and the texture in the ice have incredible detail!
Which I am totally fascinated by detail as you know.
"The Blue Diamond Pillow"
I can just see this on a white leather couch or in a contemporary bedroom.
The pillows come in a variety of sizes. I have ordered many and prefer the 26 X 26 size.
The same client from Colorado Springs, Co. ordered these two pieces.
"Space Ice"
The framed image of "Space Ice" was sold to a client in New York.
I has so much fun last winter working on these VERY  abstract images of snow and ice!
I am still amazed on how they turned out and the deep emotions they reveal to each individual!
Check out the entire collection in my
Jennifer Lake Fine Art America Store.
They are all located in the gallery called "The Shapes of Snow".
Thank-you Everyone for Supporting My Art Career for more than 35 Years!
Have a Fantastic Day!

The Adventurous Life of Jennifer Lake!!

A couple of weeks ago I had another "Great Adventure" in Eastern Oregon!
A friend of mine took me to the Ghost Town of Bourne, Oregon.
The weather was absolutely perfect for a fall excursion.
Bourne, Oregon is a ghost town in Baker County in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The famous Cracker Creek runs through the town. It was platted in 1902 and was a former gold mining boomtown. Originally named "Cracker City", Bourne is named after Senator Jonathan Bourne, Jr. who was in Eastern Oregon mines. The Bourne post office was established in 1895 and closed in 1927.
At one time the town was home to several thousand people.
I am standing in the upper level of the North Pole Mine, located another mile north of Bourne.
The views on top of this grand mountain were priceless for any photographer!
I created some fun abstract pieces of art with the images. The image below is looking south.

South of Bourne are the remains of the E. and E. Mill.
The construction and placement of all the stone work was intriguing to find in the middle of no where.
It reminded me of some of the pyramids I climbed when I lived in Guatemala.
Just think of the extensive man hours that it must have taken to build this very large mill.

The E. and E. Mill at Bourne Oregon in early 1900.
I found the colors of the rocks and how they were neatly stacked simply amazing!
The light of the sun created such fascinating colors and shadows.
Black and White photos provided another feeling entirely! Almost haunting.
Many people claim Bourne is haunted by miners that perished in a collapsed mine.
A monument has been built at the top of the mountain honoring those men.

A few of the original buildings still stand.
However the entire area is owned by individuals so you really want to respect the area.
The log cabin was absolutely wonderful to photograph against the yellows of the Tamarack Trees.
The final photo shows the various colors in the stone.
I didn't realize until I started looking at all the photos...that one of the stones looks like a skull!
Do you see it?
So I agree....Bourne, Oregon is a true Ghost Town!
Have a Great Day!
Get Out and have an Adventure!

The "Ms. Elizabeth Christmas Project"

The "Ms. Elizabeth Christmas Project" Designed for Every Little Girl!
It's that time of year when you start looking for that
 "Special Holiday"
project to create with your daughter or son.
Yes! Grandparents can participate!
I used to call it the "Mom & Me" project when my son Easton was a little guy!
We always created something "New" together during the holidays.
Everything from ornaments to an eight foot angel one year!
The project below is designed for the "Special" little girl in your life!
The "Ms. Elizabeth Christmas Time Top"

Entering the "Ms. Elizabeth Store".....
under the department "Clothing" you will find these darling dresses and tops!
There are several image styles. You can even select a "Mom & Me" identical look!
The one above is the "Ms. Elizabeth" Toddler Dress.
The one below is called "Chip" visits "Ms. Elizabeth"!
I selected "Chip Hiding" in "Ms. Elizabeth's Peppermint Land" for my project.
The first step was to add the ribbon.
I selected heart ribbon! I love hearts!
I added them as a frame around the upper image!
On the lower part of the skirt I added "Lollipop" ribbon from
Hyman & Hendler Ribbon Company in New York
It coordinated so well with the image!
The Hyman & Hendler company I have worked with for a very long time and simply LOVE their ribbon!
Check them out here: http://hymanhendler.com/
I then added a row of the heart ribbon above the lollipop ribbon to coordinate!
I also added the lollipop ribbon to create cuffs at the end of the sleeves.

On the top image I added corner glitter buttons!
I then added glitter Christmas tree buttons on the cuffs!
I love these little dresses...
because you can design them just the way you want!
 So much fun!
Send me photos of your completed project!
I would love to see them!
Have a FUN Holiday Season!

Toys in the Attic!

Toys in the Attic!

The "Christmas Season" is filled with the joy of children!
Visits with Santa, school plays, baking cookies, visiting the grandparents, and playing outside in the snow are just a few of many activities!
You can hear the voices of children everywhere!
A client purchased the image "Toys in the Attic" for her sons bedroom.
Several years ago I produced a series of unique paintings of toys.
The collection was designed from my Uncle Paul and Aunt Mary Ritt's puppet collection they created in the late 50' and 60's.
They were very well known puppeteers and were represented by RCA for years.
You can see their puppets "Sir Jeffery", "Magnolia" and "Crow" sitting on top of the trunk.
They performed everywhere and many of you might remember these puppets as you were growing up.
Their son Mark Ritts, helped create "Beekman's World" and for many years entertained children everywhere as the rat!
They are all gone now..but the "Magic" of their world still lives in my heart!

I created "Robby the Robot" as part of the collection.
My brother had a robot that was very similar.
Did you?
The ON LINE Toy Store has lots of FUN gifts for KIDS!
A client purchased the "Robby Robot" items for her kids play room!

"Rocky the Snowboarder" so COOOL!

ROCKY the Snowboarder!!

Snowboard COOL!
ROCKY!
What little boy wouldn't think "ROCKY the Snowboarder" was the Coolest Raccoon around!
A mother in Colorado just ordered her seven year old son a bedroom set for Christmas!
She hopes to Surprise him with the bedroom "redo" before
 Christmas break!
What fun for him!
She told me his snowboard is navy with white and black stripes.
She ordered navy carpet and is painting the walls three shades lighter green than the background on Rocky's products. She ordered a new duvet and throw pillows (located in the Fine Art America Store).

The print she ordered below depicts "Rocky", "Ms. Elizabeth" and "Mrs. Butterfield" skiing and snowboarding on the slopes of  Mount Hood!
I really like the stark white frame...reminds me of snow!
A friend of my told me her daughter (age 5) calls them "Super Cool"!
She snowboards at Mt. Bachelor!
Made me feel FANTASTIC!
My client even added a "Rocky" COOOL  Lamp"!
The lamps come in many styles and can be found in the ON LINE
"Ms. Elizabeth Day Off Boutique Store".
I also helped the client with several other small pieces that I had not designed yet!
One of the wonderful things I have found with all my stores...I can work with YOU direct!
Creating great FUN for me and YOU!
I cannot wait to see this young mans face when his mother opens his door to his NEW bedroom!
Have a Great Day Everyone!
Maybe you will see "Rocky" on the slopes this Holiday Season!

Great for driving back and forth from work or use in your backpack.
I have a thermos that has "Ms. Elizabeth" laying on her famous rock sunbathing!
I use it when I am riding my mountain bike.

Bathroom accessories are BIG this time of year for holiday decorating or remodeling a bathroom.
A client from Iowa redid her entire bathroom using my chickadee theme. All white cottage cabinets!
She mixed white towels with my towels and added a floor mat and shower curtain!

Customers Favorite Things!

The "Christmas Season" has really started this week!

All my ON LINE stores have been very busy the past week and it feels like the "Season" has arrived!
It truly is one of my favorite times of the year!
A client from Utah purchased the "Christmas Forest Visitor" framed print below!
I love the rustic grey frame! The frame highlights the aspen trees very well.
I have sold the piece several times with a mahogany frame.
The color highlights the pine tree bark..
I am always amazed how framing and the mat selection changes everything!

A client in upstate New York purchased "I Wish We Were Invited" for their Christmas living room.
One of my favorite pieces to decorate with.
The piece is so much fun for kids. They love making up stories about all the chipmunks.
I have used the painting several times above my mantel and added pine cones and fake snow on the mantel.
Over the years I have collected wooden chipmunks in various sizes.
I placed them in the snow with tree bows.
You truly bring nature into your home with this one!

"Oh so Close" was purchased by a client in Minnesota.
When I created the painting it reminded me of catching snowflakes as kids in Michigan.
I was so thrilled when it would snow and the flakes would be "Huge"!
I also like the framing the client selected.. The frame really highlights the chipmunk and provides a rustic feel!

A client in the State of Washington ordered the print of "Christmas in Leavenworth".
Leavenworth, Washington is a true delight for everyone during the holidays!
The community is snuggled in the valley of the northern Cascade Mountains and has a delightful
"Bavarian" theme.
Bed and Breakfasts, wonderful shopping, skiing and "Christmas Cheer" are simply found everywhere!
I think the white frame the client selected provides you with a true feeling of winter and the holidays!

I was so excited to see a client from Colorado purchase one of "My Favorite" pieces.
"Ms. Elizabeth's Holiday Home"!
The entire "Ms. Elizabeth Collection" has been such a joy to create!
If you look closely you can see to the right of the fireplace the painting "One Magical Night" on the wall. You can see portraits of  "Rocky" and "Mrs.Butter field"..."Ms. Elizabeth's" best friends!
"Ms. Elizabeth" is busy in front of the hutch and all here friends are preparing for the arrival
of
"Rocky", "Mrs. Butter field", and "Santa"!
Thank-you Everyone for this Wonderful Art Career!
Have a FANTASTIC DAY!

Fall...The Cooking Season!

The High Prairie

Don't you just Love Fall?
I know I sound like Meg Ryan in the movie "You've Got Mail!"
But it is true!
The fall season this year has been fantastic!
The colors have been so intense and the beauty simply everywhere!
I have been photographing all week again and the vistas have been amazing!
The weather has been nice and cool so a fire in the fireplace is now a daily chore here on the mountain.
I don't mind...a fire just adds to the warmth of my cabin.
I have lots of apples from my recent trip to Kimberley, Oregon.
If you have never been to this hidden oasis in Eastern Oregon you should!
Yesterday I made up some apple filled baked biscuits!
YUM! The cabin smelled Grand!
Over size Apple Cookie Cutter!
Love this cutter...4" by 5"!
Cut a top and bottom for each biscuit!
Apple Mix
Fill with your apple mix of brown sugar, lemon, pear, butter and lots and lots of cinnamon!
Cover each with their Apple Tops...fork the edges. Top with a little melted butter.
Bake 20 minutes....at this elevation it took 30 minutes!
Everything seems to take another 10 minutes to cook here!

Here you go....an Apple Biscuit! Top with Ice Cream, Whipped Cream or your Choice!
Most of all...Be Creative & Enjoy the Season!
